Luke Littler heads into the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship in arguably the most dominant form the sport has seen for years.
After winning two consecutive televised events in November, climbing to world number one and sweeping aside almost every opponent in his path, the 18 year old looks close to unstoppable. His rise has triggered a simple question across the circuit: is anyone capable of halting his momentum?
According to the latest PDC Form Guide, the answer is far from obvious. Littler is operating at the highest statistical level ever recorded since the rankings were introduced. Based on his current numbers, he would win 73 percent of legs against standard Pro Tour opposition. That figure alone places him almost ten percent ahead of every other player in the field.
His efficiency is just as striking. Littler wins 68 percent of his legs in 15 darts or fewer, a rate that leaves opponents with only a five to ten percent chance of breaking his throw. Add a scoring output of 46 180s per 100 legs and a clinical 47 percent checkout rate, and it becomes clear why the teenager has created such a gap between himself and the rest of the sport.

Gian van Veen remains the clearest threat

One player, however, has managed to trouble Littler more than once this season. Gian van Veen, the Dutch breakthrough star who won a major in October, is the only man outside Littler to lift a big title since autumn. Crucially, he also holds a positive 2025 head to head record against the world number one, winning three of their five meetings.
Van Veen is part of a small three-man group, alongside Littler and Luke Humphries, averaging above 100 over the last 200 legs. He also sits third in checkout percentage and has won all four of his matches against Humphries this year.
Even so, his extraordinary 106.47 average at the World Grand Prix was still not enough. Littler eliminated him in the opening round, raising the same question many players have asked in private: what does anyone have to produce to actually beat him?

Nathan Aspinall surging again

Nathan Aspinall reached the final of the Players Championship Finals where Littler proved too strong. Even so, his week in Minehead delivered major progress. With a 97 average over his last 200 legs, Aspinall has climbed back into the world’s top sixteen and into the top ten of the Form Guide.
He produced 89 maximums across those 200 legs, only three fewer than Littler. His ranking position has suffered this year, partly due to being unable to defend his 2023 World Matchplay title, but his ninth place in the Form Guide suggests a timely resurgence.

Gerwyn Price still dangerous

Gerwyn Price also heads into Ally Pally in strong shape. The Welshman has reached at least the quarter finals in four of his last five televised events and sits sixth in the Form Guide. He is second only to Littler for legs won in 15 darts or fewer and has produced 23 three figure finishes across his last 200 legs.
The challenge is familiar though. Price has struggled to overcome both Luke Littler and Luke Humphries this season. Any realistic route to another title run will require breaking through that barrier at last.
