Gary Wood has been one of the regular markers for the PDC for many years and recently told a remarkable story of an incident in China on the latest episode of the Weekly Dartscast.

"In 2004, it was certainly Wayne Mardle, I think he was playing John Lowe I'm not sure but what happens is the dartboard had a big Golden Dragon around it so when the players were hitting the dartboard, the flies were flying out of the dragon and flying straight back in because of the TV lights.
"One veered towards my side and went straight in my mouth and both players were on a double at the time and I could feel it buzzing around in the back of my throat so I thought rather than put the players off by coughing it out, I'll just swallow it which I did."
"Wayne came over to us at the end of the game and he said Gaz are you ok you were making a funny noise, of course I told him and Wayne tells that story all the time."
