PDC Order of Merit prior to World Darts Championship: Only Wright can threaten Price's World Number One spot

Gerwyn Price has maintained his World Number One spot partly after winning the Grand Slam of Darts as he secures number one seed for the PDC World Darts Championship.

Price could get overtaken during the showpiece tournament at the Alexandra Palace with Peter Wright the only player who can take his spot.

He is defending £500,000 though from two years ago when he won the title. As a result, he must become World Champion, with Price not getting past the Last 32.

If Michael van Gerwen wins, he only makes up ground and would only take second spot from Peter Wright as he looks to return to the top.

While after the Players Championship Finals, Ryan Searle emerged as 15th seed for the World Darts Championship going up seven spots with his run to the final meaning the likes of Stephen Bunting, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Danny Noppert, Simon Whitlock and Mervyn King lost places.

While Brendan Dolan is up into 23rd and has gone up five spots with his run to the semi-finals and with most players in reach ahead of him by only a few thousand, he could yet make the top 16 before the start of the 2022 season.

This has meant further slides for Glen Durrant, Ian White and Devon Petersen who are heading out of the top 32.
