PDC Order of Merit Update: Littler cements World No.2 spot further as Wade, Heta and Clayton rise

Luke Littler was able to add another big chunk of money to his prize money on the PDC Order of Merit. 'The Nuke' won the UK Open in Minehead last weekend and collected the top prize of 110,000 pounds.
After Littler escaped elimination in his first match against Peter Wright (10-9), there was no stopping the 18-year-old Englishman. He then defeated Jermaine Wattimena (10-4), Krzysztof Ratajski (10-8), Gian van Veen (10-4), Jonny Clayton (11-6) and James Wade (11-2).
With a total of 1,248,500 pounds in prize money, Littler now has nearly half a million pounds more than number three Michael van Gerwen in the rankings. However, Littler's gap to world number one Luke Humphries is still substantial. Humphries currently stands at 1,895,000, much of which he will have to defend in the autumn.

Jonny Clayton took over the fifth spot in the world rankings from Stephen Bunting, while Damon Heta moved up three spots and is now ranked number seven in the world. Wade moved up to 12th place by reaching the UK Open final. Semi-finalist Josh Rock also made progression and now holds the fifteenth spot.
Dimitri van den Bergh was the main loser and had to drop four spots and is now ranked No. 20 in the world. Andrew Gilding also fell down six spots to World No.27. Peter Wright tumbled further down to World No.14. Albeit Michael Smith did make some traction again moving up two spots to World No.17.

- I agree. There needs to be a points system and preferably just a rolling one year. World Championship should earn the most points though it can be argued that the current qualification system does see a fair few players qualify from regional country qualifiers who would struggle to hold down a place on the Pro Tour. If prize money won is going to remain as the determining factor for ranking then the World Championship should just consist of the 128 Tour Card Holders. Another option would be to take the World Championship out of the rankings and have it as the stand alone pinnacle that you qualify for by winning certain tournaments or your ranking position, sort of like a GSOD+.Mysstree05-04-2025

- obviously littler has the potential to surpass everybody simply because nobody has been this good at this age before, but people who think he would be any kind of favourite right now against prime taylor in a big final have short memories. it's obvious that prime taylor wouldn't win as many world titles if he was playing today, but there's also good reason to believe he'd be winning more than anybody else. hell, his statistical profile still stands alone in darts history and he might statistically be even better if he was playing today with better equipment, larger beds, more competition therefore more motivation, etc.colt24-03-2025
