PDC Summer Series Day Five - Borland stuns Cross, Van Gerwen survives early exit against Meikle

The first action of the final day of the PDC Summer Series is complete with the top 16 players through their opening round with Rob Cross out early and Michael van Gerwen surviving an early exit.

Cross was taking on the impressive William Borland who has got close to beating several big names this week including Michael van Gerwen. His luck came in though against Rob Cross winning 6-3 with an average of 94.

Van Gerwen himself was nearly out to another player who has been excellent this week in Ryan Meikle. He survived two match darts to edge past 'The Barber' into Round Two averaging 102 in a decider, it won't be an early exit like yesterday for the World Number One.

Dave Chisnall though is another player who is out. Boris Krcmar, the multiple soft tip World Champion accounted for him in an impressive display from the Croatian who hit a 121 checkout to win on the bull.

It was a 93 average for 'The Biggest' as he defeated 'Chizzy' 6-3 who falls by the wayside early. Other wins to come through include for Krzysztof Ratajski who eased past Gary Blades 6-1 with a 103 average and Michael Smith who averaged 104 on the adjacent board against Benito van de Pas.

James Wade, yesterday's winner also came through a scrap with Reece Robinson with the seeds getting through but not having it all their own way on the final day in Milton Keynes.
