The PDC will again make a statement for equality and diversity at this year's
Grand Slam of Darts 2025 in Wolverhampton. The tournament, to be played from Nov. 8 through Nov. 16, will once again feature Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign, through which the organisation is expressing its support for the LGBTQ+ community within the world of darts.
Since 2018, the PDC has been actively working with the Rainbow Laces campaign to promote inclusion in sport. This year, that will also be visible on stage: the official PDC logo will have a rainbow design, while players and staff can wear rainbow laces and pin badges during the tournament.
The
Grand Slam of Darts brings together players from 10 different countries at the WV Active Aldersley complex. Among them are top players Beau Greaves and Lisa Ashton, who once again feature prominently in the international field of participants. During twelve sessions of play, thousands of fans from home and abroad will flock to Wolverhampton for the prestigious event.
PDC referee Huw Ware, who has served for years as an LGBTQ+ ambassador within darts, emphasises the importance of this message. "The Grand Slam of Darts is traditionally the tournament where the PDC makes its support for Rainbow Laces most visible, and it's great that we can continue that in 2025," Ware said. "The PDC is committed to making every event inclusive and safe for everyone - whether you play, work or watch. That's an ongoing commitment."
According to Ware, darts is a sport that inherently connects. "Darts is and always will be an extraordinarily diverse sport that can be played and enjoyed by everyone," he continued.
Another special moment during the tournament will be the presence of members of the Out on the Oche community, a Facebook group dedicated to increasing visibility and connection within the LGBTQ+ darts community. Celebrating its one-year anniversary in Wolverhampton, the group is hosting its first joint meeting on Saturday at the Cleveland Arms, a well-known darts pub in the city.
