PDC Women's Series Event 11 & 12 Round-Up: Greaves suffers another exit to Hayter as Vicky Pruim wins maiden title

The PDC Women's Series returns on Sunday for the final two events of the weekend (11 & 12) at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester. Beau Greaves as expected starred with two titles yesterday and has now won 55 in all.

Greaves though, could soon have the issue that she may be banned from playing the Women's Series if she reaches the top 64 due to PDC rules and so other players might breathe a sigh of relief due to her dominance.

As well as Greaves, there are the usual faces, including Fallon Sherrock and Lisa Ashton, among others. Albeit, Noa-Lynn van Leuven is not allowed to play due to a recent IOC ban on transgender players, which has been taken by the PDC so she can no longer play in these events.

Aileen de Graaf, Rhian O'Sullivan, and Women's World Champion, Deta Hedman also involved. All are aiming to stop the continued rise of Greaves who also won her maiden ProTour just last month.

The prizes on offer include spots at the Women's World Matchplay, which is done on a year-round system from July when the event takes place, until the following season, so it is well underway. While the PDC World Darts Championship and Grand Slam of Darts offer a multitude of spots. Unlike the Challenge Tour or Development Tour, there are no Tour Cards for the champion. All action is on PDCTV or DartConnect with two tournaments on Sunday.

It has not been the easiest end to the weekend for Beau Greaves who was defeated in the Quarter-Finals of the 12th event by eventual losing finalist Gemma Hayter.

Hayter has previously won a title on the Women's Series and perhaps be lamenting the fact that she put in her worst performance in the final. She lost 5-2 to a familiar face but a surprising new winner in Vicky Pruim.

Pruim had seen off Lauryn Salter, Karolina Ratajska who reached the final yesterday and Paige Pauling in the latter stages so none of the so-called big names in Greaves, Sherrock and Ashton. While Hayter defeated Kirsi Viinikainen, Greaves, Hedman and then lost to Pruim.

On the other top names, Sherrock lost to Hedman in the Quarter-Finals while Greaves beat Ashton again in the Last 16. Greaves heads onto the ProTour tomorrow after a dominant but a not entirely great Sunday by her standards after losing to O'Sullivan the event before.

Beau Greaves won't clean sweep this weekend after she was defeated in the Quarter-Finals of Event 11 in only her second loss of the entire season on the Women's Series. The prior one came when a streak lasting 114 matches ended to Fallon Sherrock.

But after that she has won every title since including two yesterday. Albeit Rhian O'Sullivan paid heed to that as despite averaging close to 90, Greaves was defeated 5-4. O'Sullivan went on to lose in the round after to Deta Hedman who went on to win the title.

The WDF World Champion defeated Kirsi Viinikainen 5-3 in the final. Fallon Sherrock lost to Lisa Ashton in the Last 16 while Hedman defeated Ashton to reach the semi-finals.
