Josh Rock saw his
PDC World Darts Championship hopes go down in smoke as he was defeated by Justin Hood who was on a different stratosphere and sat at 11/11 before he missed darts at double.
He only did so though when he had match darts as 'Rocky' had to just stand there and watch 'Happy Feet' fly. Rock was seen as one of the title favourites and a potential Premier League star in waiting but he had to just applaud as Hood continues his incredible debut run.
Hood started off with a 15-dart break of throw pinning 108. He pinned 64 to got two up. Rock broke back with an 86 checkout but Hood broke with an 11-darter pinning a 50 checkout to go 1-0 up.
Rock broke on double two for 1-0 but flawless Hood continued hitting 68. Hood held twice for the second set as he continued not to miss hitting 56 for the set with Rock sat on 81. Hood broke on double 20 and hit 65 to go two up in the third set. He claimed it with a 41 checkout for an 11-darter with Rock unable to offer much up given the flawless doubling.
Follow the PDC World Darts Championship via out live scores!Rock was just shaking his head as Hood wasn't missing and it was so nearly the greatest doubling performance of all time that wouldn't be beaten as he missed only at the end when he had four match darts. Rock suddenly broke back with a 78 checkout but only when Hood had missed match darts and Rocky looked resigned to his fate.
But despite being sent all the way, Hood hit a 119 checkout to seal the win as he produced one of the most remarkable performances ever seen on the World Darts CHampionship stage.
Clayton ends debut brilliance of Harrysson
Jonny Clayton survived more of a tougher examination as he punished brutal missed darts at doubles from Swedish debutant Andreas Harrysson. He looked down and out at times but reeled off three sets in a row to seal the win.
Harrysson held to begin set one with a 50 checkout. But Clayton immediately responded with a 141 checkout on double 12 for 1-1. Clayton left a makeable out on the Harrysson throw but the Swede went 2-1 up. A 64 checkout saw Clayton send it the distance. He nicked it on double 16 3-2 to seal the first set.
Harrysson though took command. He broke with an epic 124 checkout and then followed that up with a 149 checkout to seal the set. Clayton hit an epic 160 checkout but Harrysson hit an 81 checkout for an 11-darter to seal a 2-1 sets lead.
A 78 checkout saw Harrysson break to begin set four. But Clayton broke back on double eight for 1-1. Clayton hit double eight to hold and after it was sent all the way, he eventually pinned double 16 for 3-2 to make it 2-2 in sets. Harrysson hit double 10 to go 1-0 up in the fifth set. A 103 checkout saw the Swede punch a 2-0 lead. Clayton broke back though to seal the set with a 78 checkout 3-2.
Clayton went 2-1 up in what was a decisive final set as he hit double eight and served it out without the need for a break as he swept it 3-2 on double 16 finally after missing the chance for a show stopping 121 checkout but not on his famous bull.
Ratajski sets up Littler meeting
Krzysztof Ratajski set up a meeting with a certain Luke Littler on New Years Day after taking down Luke Woodhouse in a top quality tie to begin the last day of darts of the 2025 season.
Ratajski spoke about having brain surgery due to an aneurysm last year and his heroic story is one to be admired given he missed very minimal events last year in the first place and perhaps the darting gods were out to issue a slice of luck his way.
He saw off 'Woody' 4-2 in a polished display and given his stoic presence will no doubt relish a meeting with Littler especially given that the crowd will be firmly on his side after Littler's outburst last night after beating Rob Cross.
He was utterly brilliant to begin proceedings sweeping the opening set 3-1 with a 106.5 average. But Woodhouse was back straight away hitting a 110 checkout to seal the second set 3-1 and restore parity with three 180's to his name. Woodhouse nearly produced the sublime missing double 12 for a nine-dart finish which looked for all the will in the world like it was going in. Ratajski though took out 72 after also hitting the double in the leg where the nine-darter was missed as he surged into a 2-1 set lad.
Woodhouse dusted himself down and set about reducing the arrears sealing the fourth set to make it 2-2. Ratajski broke to go 2-1 up and sealed the set after Woodhouse could only set up 164. He made it 3-2. Ratajski then broke to win it pinning a 15-darter on double 16 to claim the win.
