"Peter Wright should never have been in Premier League Darts" - Mike De Decker snubs former world champion

After eight days of play, Peter Wright's situation in Premier League Darts looks increasingly hopeless. 'Snakebite' has managed to win just one match this campaign and counts only two points in the standings.

Much was made of Wright's Premier League selection beforehand. Many people had reservations about the PDC's choice because the Scottish former world champion seemed completely out of shape last year.

"Wright should never have been in the Premier League Darts," fellow dart player Mike De Decker says firmly in the podcast Double Top. "Especially when you look at his level the last few months of last year, which was lousy."

"But yeah, he has his show on stage, that dance, uses new arrows almost every leg,...people obviously talk about it and the PDC likes that. I think he was just selected for that. But in terms of level and performance, obviously someone like Chris Dobey should always have been there."

Wright got past the quarterfinals only once on eight nights of play. "He does that to himself. Almost everyone knows beforehand; 'if you have to go against Wright, you get two free points'. It's as simple as that."
