Players Championship Order of Merit Update: Gerwyn Price now leads, Michael van Gerwen out of top 100 after skipping double header

Michael van Gerwen will have to work hard in the autumn to qualify for the Players Championship Finals while Gerwyn Price now leads. 'Mighty Mike' skipped the two tournaments in Leicester this week, dropping him outside the top-100 of the Players Championship Order of Merit.
Van Gerwen has so far played only nine of the 21 Players Championship tournaments and was eliminated six times in the first round in those nine participations. As a result, the Dutchman only stands at 7,000 pounds in prize money on the Players Championship circuit in 2025. Van Gerwen has thirteen more tournaments to secure a spot in the top-64 of the Players Championship Order of Merit.
That is needed to compete in the Players Championship Finals later this year. Van Gerwen's deficit in the 64th spot, currently held by Nathan Aspinall, is currently 8,000 pounds. Incidentally, Dimitri van den Bergh is not in good shape either. The two-time major-winner is in spot 101 with 8,500 pounds, so he also has to make up ground in the coming months.
The Players Championship Order of Merit is now led by Gerwyn Price, who surprisingly lost to Bradley Brooks on Wednesday in the final of Players Championship 21. Price leads the standings with £72,000. Tournament winner Bradley Brooks is now in 29th place with 28,000 pounds.
Damon Heta, winner of Players Championship 20 on Tuesday, is number two with 70,000 pounds, while Gian van Veen and Chris Dobey follow up. The top-10 is completed by Ross Smith, Josh Rock, Cameron Menzies, James Wade, Stephen Bunting and Jermaine Wattimena.

- Absolutely disgraceful, really I've said many times that ITV coverage is superior to SKY and SKY know that. Jacqui was absolutely fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. Emma from SKY is more interested in what to wear than learning about darts. Chris Mason is absolutely the best and greatest commentator on TV, even better than Alex Jacques on F1 and Alex is absolutely brilliant. It is criminal that Chris and Alan will probably never be on TV again, what an amazing waste of talent. Poor Ned, who is just as excellent and knowledgeable on darts as the Tour de France has lost both gigs this year. The whole ITV team from presentation, commentary, production the whole team will definitely be missed and I have enjoyed every minute of their coverage. Thank you so much. John Part is the ONLY decent and knowledgeable person on SKY.
