At the
European Darts Matchplay there are still eight players in the battle for the title tonight with one player taking away the latest
European Tour in Trier.
In the first match of the evening, Raymond van Barneveld takes on Joe Cullen. 'Barney' already impressed this tournament with wins against Michael van Gerwen and Ryan Searle, among others. By the way, it has been 2016 since the 56-year-old Dutchman reached the quarterfinals of a tournament on the European Tour.
Afterwards, Michael Smith and Dirk van Duijvenbode will take on each other. Both men reached a tremendously high level in the third round against Josh Rock and Dimitri Van den Bergh, respectively. Wait and see if they can confirm that top form, because then we will get a real cracker.
Also James Wade and Gian van Veen, who will face each other in the third quarterfinal of the evening, already showed this tournament that they are in top form. Van Veen can qualify for a semifinal of a tournament on the European Tour for the first time.
In the final quarterfinal of the evening, reigning defending champion Luke Humphries takes on Nathan Aspinall. Humphries has already lost four finals on the European Tour this year, Aspinall will look for a first ever tournament victory on the European Tour in Trier.
