Position on world ranking at stake in clash between Van Gerwen and Wright at World Matchplay

Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright are not only competing for a place in the final of the World Matchplay on Saturday night. Also the second position on the PDC Order of Merit is at stake.

Gerwyn Price will in any case continue to lead the world rankings after the World Matchplay. The second spot on the PDC Order of Merit is currently held by Wright. The Scot will keep this position if Van Gerwen does not win the tournament. With a win over the Dutchman, Snakebite can increase his lead on Mighty Mike.

The other semi-final is between defending champion Dimitri van den Bergh and Krzysztof Ratajski. Van den Bergh started the tournament as number eight of the world, but is now virtually fifth. With a title, the Belgian can even climb to fourth place. Ratajski has risen from thirteenth to eleventh place. A final spot would put him in tenth place, while a title would put him ahead of Van den Bergh in fifth.
