Rob Cross produced a 109 average to book his place in the semi finals of
Premier League Darts Night Five as he defeated a shell-shocked
Gerwyn Price in Exeter. Cross was in scintillating form all game, going seven perfect darts into the nine in leg two, but was able to clean up to make a strong start.
'Voltage' then raised the roof with a 132 checkout to go 3-0 up. It was Cross at his absolute best, with a 10-darter to follow up to leave Price thinking about what just hit him. It felt only fitting that the former World Champion left 170, only to tease the crowd by deciding to lay up.
Finally given a chance to win a leg, Price did so in style, hitting a 160 to join the party of stunning finishes. Cross eventually saw off 'The Iceman' to record a stunning victory that he'll be hoping sets the tone for the rest of the evening.
Litter matches Cross to get better of Smith
Luke Littler duly followed suit as he blitzed through
Michael Smith to set up a clash with Cross. Both players came out of the blocks strong, getting down and out in the first four legs in 15, 14, 12 and 13 darts where they could not be separated at 2-2.
Littler then produced a stunning break of throw to go 4-2 up by taking out 302 in six darts. The teenager was using a new set of darts and it was appearing to pay dividends.
Smith wasn't doing much wrong, matching Littler's average of 104, but 'Bully Boy' could do nothing to prevent the 17-year-old from running away with it and secure a 6-2 victory and face Cross in what is set to be a mouth-watering semi final.
