Luke Humphries continued his great performances in
Premier League Darts as he blitzed past
Gerwyn Price 6-2 in the quarter-finals in Brighton. After being broken in the first leg, 'Cool Hand' looked in control as he won six of the next seven legs, finishing the match with 11, 12 and 13-darters. The turning point was in the fifth leg when Humphries had a 116 to hold throw with Price waiting on 48.
Humphries had an average of 105.5 and checked out six of his 10 double attempts. It is a big win for world champion Humphries, as he now rises into the top four in the league table.
Cross sees off below-par van Gerwen
Rob Cross was the second player through to the semi-finals thanks to a 6-2 win over
Michael van Gerwen. After van Gerwen did well to hold throw in the first leg with a 107, Cross then showed a similar performance to that of last week when he averaged over a ton in his last eight victory over Gerwyn Price. Cross finished in style with a 129 checkout in the final leg.
He didn't need to be at his best, however, as van Gerwen had only one score of over 140 in the entire match in what was an alarmingly bad performance from the Dutchman.
Van Gerwen has had a busy week. After suffering a shock fourth-round exit at the UK Open, he was announced as an ambassador for hotel chain Kempinski. 'The Green Machine' was also debuting a new match shirt. The only positive for 'Mighty Mike' is he cannot be caught at the top of the table with a six point lead.
