The 2025
Grand Slam of Darts continues in Wolverhampton, with Wednesday night marking the start of the knockout games. With a place in the final eight on the line, big names such as
Luke Humphries and
Gerwyn Price must perform.
The
Grand Slam of Darts features a distinctive format unlike any other major tournament in Darts. It begins with a group stage, where the top two players from each group advance to the last 16, followed by the quarterfinals and beyond. Three former Grand Slam champions have already completed their group games and advanced to the last 16: Luke Humphries,
Michael Smith, and three-time winner Gerwyn Price.

Luke Woodhouse vs Ricky Evans
The evening in Wolverhampton will kick off with the matchup of Luke Woodhouse and Ricky Evans, where both players will be looking to reach the last eight of the Grand Slam of Darts for the first time in their career.
Woodhouse topped group C, winning all three of his games, including an impressive 5-2 victory over the "Wall", Martin Schindler. The Englishman secured his place at the top of the group with a win over Stephen Bunting in a last-leg shootout, taking out 68 to win the match.
Evans finished second in his group, losing 5-2 to James Wade on the final game, but had impressive performances against both Gerwyn Price and Stefan Bellmont. Evans won both games in last leg shootouts, leaving him second due to leg difference.

Gerwyn Price v Martin Schindler
Three time Grand Slam of Darts winner Gerwyn Price will be looking to continue his fine run of form this year, as he takes on German No.1 Martin Schindler.
Schindler secured his spot in the knockouts on the final set of group games, with a win of Alexis Toylo. The "Wall" averaged over 96, hitting an impressive five out of nine attempts at double.
Price has been one of the most consistent players on tour this year, and will be looking to progress and continue in his hopes of a fourth Grand Slam of Darts title. The Welshman topped group D, with an impressive eight-leg difference despite losing his first game of the tournament to Ricky Evans.

Luke Humphries v Jurjen van der Velde
2023 Grand Slam of Darts champion Luke Humphries will take on Jurien Van der Velde on Wednesday, in their head-to-head of the year. The pair met twice in 2024, sharing the spoils.
Humphries topped group topped Group A, with three wins, including a nine darter to win the match against Michael Smith. The 9 dart finish was only Humphries second televised.
Van der Velde comes into this matchup the underdog, but has impressed so far this week with a win over Damon Heta, securing the second qualification spot in Group B.
Chris Dobey v Michael Smith
The return of Michael Smith has been a major talking point throughout the Grand Slam of Darts, due to his medical struggles. "Bullyboy" qualified in second in Group A, despite not producing his best performances.
Chris Dobey has been on fire this week, dropping just three legs so far, winning all three games 5-1. Dobey struggled in his last game against Martin Lukeman, averaging just over 81, and will be hoping for a better standard of Darts if he is to beat Smith.
The pair last faced off in 2024, with Smith coming out 11-9 victorious in the round of 16 of the World Matchplay. Smith will be hoping for a similar on Wednesday in a best of 19 legs.
