The Women's World Matchplay will be played on Sunday afternoon, July 27, at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Beau Greaves starts the tournament as the top favorite, having also prevailed in 2023 and 2024.
This tournament is the only televised tournament at the PDC specifically for women. The field of participants consists of the best eight players from the PDC Women's Series over the past 12 months.

Here is a preview of the quarterfinals.
Beau Greaves v Kirsi Viinikainen
The afternoon will be kicked off by the defending champion. Beau Greaves will take on Finland's Kirsi Viinikainen in her opening match. Greaves comes to Blackpool full of confidence after winning titles on both the Development Tour and Challenge Tour earlier this year. On the Development Tour, she is still in the lead after fifteen tournaments, by the way. The 21-year-old Englishwoman won the Women's World Matchplay in 2023 and 2024 and will be keen to reaffirm her status as an absolute ruler in women's darts.
Greaves, however, will be wary of meeting Viinikainen. The 52-year-old Finn is a very experienced player who already managed to win a tournament at the PDC Women's Series this year. In the past, she also won several tournaments at the WDF. Viinikainen will make her debut at this year's Women's World Matchplay.

Lisa Ashton v Robyn Byrne
Next up is Lisa Ashton, a living legend in women's darts. The now 54-year-old Englishwoman is still the only lady ever to capture a PDC Tour Card, although she has since lost it again. Ashton has already captured four world titles with the BDO and will be at the Women's World Matchplay for the fourth consecutive time. In recent years she always reached the semifinals, so we'll have to wait and see if she can go that extra mile this year.
Ashton will take on Robyn Byrne in the quarterfinals. The 28-year-old Irishwoman is there for the second time at the Women's World Matchplay and reached the semifinals last year. Byrne has yet to win a tournament at the PDC Women's Series this year, but did so in 2023 and 2024.

Noa-Lynn van Leuven v Lorraine Winstanley
Noa-Lynn van Leuven is playing in the Women's World Matchplay for the third consecutive year, but never managed to win a match. This year she has already won two tournaments on the PDC Women's Series and last year she caused a stir by even winning a tournament on the Challenge Tour.

Van Leuven will take on the particularly experienced Lorraine Winstanley in the quarterfinals. Wife of former professional darts player Dean Winstanley, reached the semifinals at the Women's World Matchplay in 2022. The past two years, however, she failed to qualify. Winstanley, former World Masters winner and losing finalist at the BDO World Championship, is now 49, but seems to have begun a renaissance this year.

Fallon Sherrock v Gemma Hayter
Next it is the turn of Fallon Sherrock and Gemma Hayter to take the stage at the Winter Gardens. Sherrock, winner of first edition of the Women's World Matchplay in 2022, needs little introduction. At the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship, she made history by becoming the first woman to win against a man. However, Sherrock has been struggling with health problems lately - she plans to take a sabbatical year next year - so the question is whether she will be able to have all her capabilities at her disposal this weekend.
With Hayter, Sherrock will meet a debutant in the quarterfinals. However, the 32-year-old showed what she can do last year by winning two tournaments of the PDC Women's Series. This year, her tally still stands at zero for now, but consistent performances have placed her fifth in the standings.
