Price and Smith late withdrawals from Players Championship 15

Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith will not compete in the fifteenth Players Championship tournament of the season on Monday after all. They had originally registered for the event in Leicester.

It is not known why Price and Smith withdrew. Possibly they are opting for extra rest ahead of the World Matchplay (July 15-23). Fellow top players Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright are also not present during Players Championship 15.

Price and Smith's spots were taken over by Owen Bates and Scott Mitchell. They were the highest-ranked players on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit who were not yet among the entrants.
