Price caps off impressive Champions League of Darts debut with victory over Cross

Price was impressive hitting a 99 average and seven 180's en route to victory and also threatened the nine-dart finish multiple times, he has put to bed previous problems of getting past his first game and now has the opportunity to build on that later.

Price had a poor first leg at times but held his throw on the second attempt after Cross missed double 20 for a 77 checkout.

'The Iceman' hit a 180 and follow it up with a 118 but emphatically took out an 82 checkout delivering a trademark celebration to the crowd.

Cross brought himself back into immediate contention with a break of throw himself to make it 2-1 to Price. Another good leg saw him bring himself back to parity with a 43 checkout.

Price though once again went ahead holding throw with a 54 checkout. He produced a mistaken brilliant checkout attempt going 125 with two bulls, as a result Cross held throw with a double four.

Price though regained the upperhand at 5-4 with four 180's and he extended that to a 6-4 lead averaging 102.05 at that point.

Cross produced a brilliant response though hitting double 15 with a last dart in hand to go to 6-5 behind. A 47 checkout saw him regain a two leg lead at 7-5. He went within two to potentially record a welcome return to the winners circle.

The Welshman finished off proceedings to claim a brilliant victory with a 10-5 win and a 99.33 average.
