The 2023 European Darts Open final is set in Leverkusen with Gerwyn Price who has been in terrific form so far this weekend set to face Dirk van Duijvenbode who was a regular finalist last year on the European Tour but still does not have a title.
For Price, it was his lowest average of the tournament so far but still 100.79 with three 180's and 40% on the doubles in a 7-4 win over Danny Noppert for 'The Iceman' who will go into the final as the favourite.
After initially being locked in at 2-2, Price went 3-2 up and stretched his lead to 5-2 going two away from the victory from there. Noppert stopped the rot with an 80 checkout to make it 5-3. Price went one away at 6-4 with an 11-dart 46 checkout before sealing the deal with a 56 checkout.
While Van Duijvenbode sealed a 7-6 win over Rob Cross with a comeback win which went all the way to a decider and he will now take on Cross
Initially Cross went 3-1 and 6-2 up but after going one away, Van Duijvenbode started to mount an unlikely comeback with multiple match darts missed.
At 6-5, Cross missed 86 on the bull for the match and two more darts from there for the match and Van Duijvenbode sealed parity and went one away with a decider set.
He hit 136 to leave double 16 with Cross unable to pressure and sealed the deal from there.
