PRICE WINS A THRILLER IN BRIGHTON! Drama to the very end as Price escapes with a 6-5 victory over Michael van Gerwen in one of the games of the Premier League so far! bit.ly/PL23Live | #PLDarts SF
The rivalry continued between Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen and it was 'The Iceman' that prevailed in a Premier League Darts epic on Night 11 in Brighton to reach the final.
Price will now face another rival in Michael Smith in the final, while the former will look to close the gap to MVG in top spot by winning another week.
It was a pulsating battle with MVG which featured 14 180's and saw Price average 108 to Van Gerwen's 104.7 with the latter missing a nine-dart finish on double 12 in a match that nearly had it all.
MVG led proceedings early on by taking out 88 on the bull for 2-0 but Price got off the mark and broke with an 86 checkout to make it 2-2. But Van Gerwen edged back in front with missed doubles allowing a 120 checkout from the Green Machine for 3-2.
But Price turned it around and still averaging 110, he hit double 20 to go within one leg of the final at 5-4. Despite that missed nine-darter, Van Gerwen missed a dart for the win and Price on second attempt took out double 12.
While for Smith, he defied Peter Wright reaching back-to-back finals with a superb 6-5 win over 'Snakebite'.
Going 4-3 and 5-4 up, Wright looked in pole position. But sat on 36 for the match, Smith produced a blockbuster 160 checkout to send it all the way and after a missed dart from 88, Smith pinned double 18 for the win.
