After Jonny Clayton went out to Michael Smith, home hopes fell upon
Gerwyn Price and he delivered with 'The Iceman' prevailing in a last leg decider in Cardiff to see off Chris Dobey and end his winning run 6-5.
Next up in the second semi-final on Night Two of
Premier League Darts action is
Michael van Gerwen who saw off Dimitri van den Bergh in a 6-4 win continuing his superb head to head record against the Belgian with a 95 average and 60% on the doubles.
Price was not clinical in the early going with Dobey capitalising to go 4-3 up with a break but the roar began and it fired him into life with an 81 checkout to level again at 4-4.
Dobey sent it the distance with an 88 checkout but Price was throwing for it and sealed it with an 81 checkout for a 12-darter.
While for Van Gerwen, there was little to separate them in the early going and it was Van den Bergh who took the first early strides.
He produced a 121 checkout to make it 3-2 but a 105 checkout saw MVG click back into gear and he won two out of the next three legs to surge home.
