Gerwyn Price is through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2020 Masters but was pushed all the way by Simon Whitlock in the end.
Price was 9-4 up and seemingly cruising through to a place in the final day of action in Milton Keynes but Whitlock started to gain momentum and forced a decider. Despite that, it was 'The Iceman' who headed over the line with a 98 average and 63 percent on his doubles.
In a close start to the game which was the case in most games to start the tournament, it went 3-2 at the interval with Price regaining the upperhand after going 2-0 up initially.
It was Whitlock who did the business though when they returned claiming back-to-back legs to go 4-3 up. Despite that a 13 darter saw Price take that lead away from Whitlock.
This continued with a timely break of throw leading to a 6-4 lead for Price against Whitlock. In the blink of an eye, Price was one away from victory with 75 percent on the doubles taking out 108 to do so but this wasn't the end of proceedings.
Whitlock continued to gain momentum and went into free flow hitting successive 180s and double 16 en route to an 12-darter to trail 9-6 and break.
He held from there surviving another match dart as doubts continued to be cast into the mind of Price. These doubts were further underlined with Whitlock breaking again to go one behind.
From 9-4 down, he was suddenly standing on the brink of victory forcing a decider after five legs on the spin.
