Price moves through to second consecutive major final after victory over Dobey

Gerwyn Price is into his second consecutive major final after an 11-8 victory over Chris Dobey at the Players Championship Finals.

Price hit a 100 average and six 180's en route to victory over 'Hollywood' who lead throughout but lacked the cutting edge towards the end and this allowed him to move through to a potential tie with Michael van Gerwen in the final.

Dobey was excellent in the opening stages helping himself to a 3-0 lead with Price firmly not in the races. This was further underlined with Dobey moving into a 4-1 lead at the first interval as Price was down at 88 on the averages.

'The Iceman' went to 4-3 behind to claw it back and from there he hit a third consecutive ton plus checkout in the form of a 100 to level it at 4-4.

Dobey stopped the rot with a 96 checkout to edge back in front at 5-4 up. Price tied it up at 5-5 but it continued to be very much level with it flipping back and forth.

As a result, Dobey went back in front in the tie at 8-7 up but a 12 darter from Price saw him level it up at 8-8 and he punished missed darts to claim a break of throw and went one away with his third leg on the spin at 10-8.

He finished the job from there to reach a second consecutive final on TV against potentially Michael van Gerwen.
