Michael van Gerwen is through to his fifth consecutive Players Championship final after an 11-8 victory over Ian White.
Van Gerwen going through means that the final is one that is a real tantalising prospect against Gerwyn Price in a repeat of last week's brilliant match at the Grand Slam of Darts.
It was a 103.6 average and nine 180's in the end for Mighty Mike; White himself didn't play poorly averaging 102 but missed too many doubles allowing MVG to surge through to the final.
Van Gerwen pounced as usual on missed darts at double in the opening exchanges with him at 4-1 at the first interval despite not being at his best by any means averaging only 92 but it was seven missed darts from White which made the difference.
White hit a 13 darter when he returned to trail 4-2 but again Van Gerwen stretched his lead to three with a ten darter to lead 5-2.
The same happened again as despite White getting to within arms length, Van Gerwen went further ahead and the writing was potentially on the wall at 6-4 up.
A break of throw saw Van Gerwen miss one dart on double five and White replied to trail 6-5. A 130 checkout saw Van Gerwen respond straight away though.
He landed a potentially killer blow with a 112 checkout to move 9-6 ahead with a 104 average at the time.
White bounced back with a 141 checkout to trail 9-7. Van Gerwen went one away and despite a late flourish to keep it alive, MVG moved through.
