Gerwyn Price is the penultimate player into the Quarter-Finals at the 2022 World Matchplay after sealing an 11-8 win over Dave Chisnall.
Price saw off the St Helens ace in another comeback win as he returned from 5-3 and 6-4 down to seal the win with a 98.3 average and high checkouts of 161 and 164 en route.
To begin the tie despite a 161 checkout from Price, Chisnall got into a 3-2 lead which he began to extend at 5-3 with a hold in the form of an 87 checkout and at the next interval, he led 6-4 landing double 20 to ask the question of Price.
But it was one he answered with some special finishing starting with a 124 checkout on the bull for 6-6 before leading for the first time since the third leg at 7-6. A two leg cushion was opened up from there with a superb 164 checkout.
Only for the sublime to continue with Chisnall reducing the deficit to just one with a 142 checkout to stay in touch at 8-7. But from hitting the incredible to missing key doubles and Price picked the pocket of Chisnall to go 9-7 up. He raced to the brink with a hold on double 20 at 10-7.
A 128 left double 11 for Price with Chisnall needing 111 to stay in it which he achieved at 10-8 down. 'The Iceman' dispelled doubt with two 180's and 101 to leave 40 which he pinned on double two to seal it 11-8.
