Price produces brilliance on doubles to ease past Noppert, Van den Bergh ends Hayden's run

The fourth round is through the first games of the night at the 2020 UK Open with the likes of Gerwyn Price, Dimitri van den Bergh and Ian White through.

Price was exceptional in defeating Danny Noppert in a 10-3 victory with 71 percent on the doubles as one of the main favourites for the title has moved through.

Also through include the likes of Van den Bergh who defeated Riley's Qualifier Rhys Hayden who showed class with high finishes of 130 and 120 but couldn't see off The Dreammaker. Ian White saw off Harry Ward also on the outer boards, Ryan Searle missed double 12 for a brilliant nine-darter and then fell to Kim Huybrechts.

Daryl Gurney also is through successfully defeating Keegan Brown and showed real emotion in seeing off the Isle of Wight ace, as did 'X Factor' Andy Boulton who ended the run of Luke Humphries producing a fightback to do so.

Over on the Main Stage like alluded to, Price claimed victory and he stormed into an early 2-0 lead with a break of throw with 'The Iceman' imperious on the doubles so far. He continued in that vein smashing in a 64 checkout to go 3-0 up and leave Noppert behind in the early going.

He started to lose concentration though and missed double 20 for a 61 checkout which could have allowed him a double break and Noppert didn't spurn the opportunity going 3-1 behind.

Price though regained it to go 4-1 up at the first interval. He continued to ease through the motions producing an excellent 126 checkout to go 6-2 up with another break of throw.

Noppert's woes continued as Price smashed in an 82 checkout to make it 7/8 and go within touching distance of the fifth round.

They both ended up on double 20 in the next leg and Noppert stopped the rot to go into the second interval at 3-7 behind.

Price went two away at 8-3 up as he only missed one double with 'The Iceman' searching for a break that would put him on the verge and he let out another roar with an 81 checkout.

Noppert was all the way back on 170 but Price missed match darts for victory. Despite that, Price pinched it on the fifth attempt to ease through.
