The action continues at the 2020 UK Open with Peter Wright, the reigning World Champion successfully through to the fifth round after dispelling Glen Durrant in an absolute thriller on the Main Stage.
Both Durrant and Wright shared the spoils in the opening few legs with 'Duzza' potentially holding the edge after a stinker of a leg barring a late 180 from Wright on the Teesside ace's throw.
Durrant kicked off on Wright's throw with a 180 but Wright matched him and went into a 3-1 lead. Going into the break though with Wright sat on 28, Durrant took out double 20 second time around to go only behind with a break of throw.
The duo exchanged misses at double with Wright going down to the madhouse with seven missed darts and Durrant five before the latter took out double one to claim an important leg.
He came back and pinned double 16 to go 4-3 up with a break himself to potentially flip the script and go towards 5-3 up. Durrant missed darts to hold after he looked to capitalise on a small slip by Wright but the latter hit double eight to make it 5-5 and send it the distance.
A 45 checkout saw Wright regain the lead at 6-5 up. He missed the chance to break from there and Durrant capitalised with a 70 checkout to make it 6-6. Durrant finished 56 in a clutch shot to make it 7-7. The parity continued as they were locked up at 8-8, who would break free from here. Wright went one away with a hold of throw and he knew he had to find a break in the final leg to nick it from here.
Wright hit a ninth 180 to put the pressure on Durrant and leave himself 121 and he hit it to claim a brilliant victory.
