Gerwyn Price is the latest player through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2021
UK Open after producing an impressive display to see off Chris Dobey.
A bit of double trouble at the end to finish the tie off was soon forgotten with a 129 on the bull seeing Price seal a 10-5 win with a 102 average in what was a high quality tie which saw Dobey himself average 101 in the end.
Price was in exceptional form to begin the tie going into the break with a 4-1 lead averaging 106.24 capping it off with a 109 checkout to assert his dominance early on.
He returned and hit back-to-back 11-darters to open up a 6-1 lead averaging 114 to continue his dominance.
Dobey from there narrowly missed a nine-dart finish missing double 12 before pinning double three for an 11-darter to go 7-2 down.
Dobey missed the chance for a break in the form of a 94 checkout doing the hard bit in bull and 12 before missing double 16 and Price went 8-2 up.
It was a seventh maximum for Dobey on Price's throw but two chances passed him by to break and 'The Iceman' headed into a 9-3 lead.
A 177 was hit by Price and he left 97 from there on Dobey's throw to win. He missed a stack of match darts though and Dobey prolonged the tie.
105 left 96 for Price as more match darts came in and it was seven missed. Dobey was on 66 and pinned double 18 to break and make it 9-5.
Price again was first to a finish albeit 129 on Dobey's throw and pinned the bull to claim victory with 'Hollywood' sat waiting to make it 9-6.
