Price reaches World Matchplay quarter-finals for first time since 2015 after demolition win over Clayton

Gerwyn Price has moved into the Quarter-Finals of the World Matchplay for the first time since 2015 after smashing his World Cup winning teammate Jonny Clayton 11-3.

Price produced a 101 average and 69% on the doubles as the World Number One sent out a message by easing past the Premier League champion.

Price came out of the gates quickly with the first three legs being claimed without reply before Clayton hit back with two in a row himself to trail 3-2.

But on the return from the interval, 'The Iceman' continued to be clinical and broke to make it 6-3 with a 72 checkout and held with a brilliant 108 checkout to make it 7-3.

Clayton couldn't muster any resistence as Price broke again at 8-3 and he was soon one away with a thumping 102 checkout to make it 10-3 and due to it being a break of throw, he served it out to complete the feat 11-3.
