Price recovers to defeat Clayton, Smith continues form with De Sousa win

Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith are the final winners on the second night of action at the Grand Slam of Darts with victories over Jonny Clayton and Jose de Sousa.
Price who saw off Mikuru Suzuki on the opening night but only just recovered from 2-0 down to see off his World Cup partner Jonny Clayton in a 5-3 victory to put himself in pole position in Group G.
He made a slow start to proceedings averaging just 79 and Clayton took advantaged and despite Clayton breaking to make it 3-2 from there, Price immediately broke back and held throw to make it 4-3 before closing out the tie.
While Smith continued his terrific form as of late with a 5-2 victory over Jose de Sousa with a 102.5 average and 5/8 on the doubles to back up his victory over Lisa Ashton on the opening night and similarly put himself in pole position in Group C.
