Van Gerwen eases past Clemens, Petersen sees off Van Duijvenbode

Michael van Gerwen and Devon Petersen are the next two players to make it two from two so far in the Grand Slam of Darts as the second night of action continues.

There were questions with Van Gerwen as to whether he was really back towards his best after easing past Joe Cullen and he has gone someway closer to answering that.

He has sealed his spot in the knockout stages of the Grand Slam of Darts after seeing off Gabriel Clemens 5-1 with a 103.6 average.

'Mighty Mike' raced into a 3-0 lead averaging 110 and broke throw to go one away from the whitewash but some resistance did come from 'The German Giant' who broke back but this proved a mere consolation as the World Number One won through.

Before that like alluded to, Petersen eased past Dirk van Duijvenbode to double his tally with a 5-2 victory over the Dutchman making Group E an interesting complexion tomorrow with Wright and Van Duijvenbode stuck on one win each.

He coasted into a 3-0 lead but Van Duijvenbode got off the mark with a 76 checkout to reduce arrears to 3-1. Petersen went one away at 4-1 and despite 'The Titan' hitting a second 180 and an 81 checkout to make it 4-2, the former won through.
