Gerwyn Price will once again lock horns with his compatriot and World Cup teammate, Jonny Clayton in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022
Masters after seeing off Ryan Searle in a 10-8 win.
Price began his season by defeating 'Heavy Metal' with a 95.4 average, three 180's, 45.5% on the doubles and a high checkout of 164.
Price sealed the opening leg against Searle with an 80 checkout. Searle had the chance to break but spurned his chance and Price headed into the break with a 164 checkout to go 4-1 up.
Searle missed two darts to break but returned after Price missed the chance to hold and he made it 4-2. A 52 checkout saw him hold to go to within one of ‘The Iceman’.
But Price held on double 12 to make it 5-3. The holds continued as Searle made it 5-4. Price produced an epic 126 checkout though with Searle waiting to break as he went in at the interval 6-4 up.
With Price sat on 54 to break, Searle responded with a 106 checkout to make it 6-5. Price regained a two-leg cushion though at 8-6 with a hold.
Searle missed double 20 for a 140 checkout but returned for double 20 to trail 8-7 but he still needed a break with legs running out.
This was evidenced with Price going one away. Searle pinned double 20 to go one behind but needed to break or he was going out.
That break did not come as Price sealed the victory on double eight and he is through to the Quarter-Finals.
