Price, Wright, top seed Humphries and Smith through first round, Cross and Van den Bergh dumped out at Players Championship 25

The first round has began at Players Championship 25 with most seeds heading through but some big names also heading out.

Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price, Joe Cullen, Michael Smith, Jonny Clayton and Dirk van Duijvenbode are all through. Wright edged past Adam Gawlas in a 6-5 win, while Price whitewashed a struggling Glen Durrant.

Luke Humphries is top seed and edged past Devon Petersen 6-4, while top average so far goes to Dave Chisnall with 102.72 in a 6-2 win over Simon Whitlock.

In terms of big names heading out though, only three seeds have fell with Dimitri van den Bergh (6-3 loss to Alan Soutar), Rob Cross (6-4 defeat to Mike de Decker) and Ryan Searle (6-5 against Mario Vandenbogaerde) falling by the wayside as the Last 128 continues.
