The World Matchplay takes place between the 18-26 July. During this prestigious tournament no less than £ 700,000 in prize money will be distributed with this being the same as last year.
The 32 participants in the
World Matchplay are guaranteed to receive a minimum of £ 10,000 in
prize money, which is the amount paid out in first round defeat.
A victory in the first round will gleam £15,000. The quarterfinals receive £ 25,000 and the losing semi finalists earn £ 50,000.
By reaching the final, a player earns at least £70,000. The winner will take home £150,000 and the
Phil Taylor Trophy.
The tournament itself is not played in Blackpool but in Milton Keynes for the first time ever. Due to Coronavirus, it was decided to play the tournament behind closed doors.
