Dimitri van den Bergh will face off against Gary Anderson in his first major final on Sunday evening at the World Matchplay to cap off a remarkable run for the Belgian.
Van den Bergh managed to defeat a player who is higher in the PDC Order of Merit in all but one match. He saw off Nathan Aspinall in a
shock 10-5 win to begin the tournament and then escaped elimination against Joe Cullen going from 8-5 down to 11-9 the victor.
Following that, he defeated two-time World Champion Adrian Lewis in a
16-12 win. Glen Durrant who was one of the favourites to claim the title fell in the semi-finals losing out
17-15.
In his four games played, 'The Dreammaker' has recorded a tournament average of 97.76. This is partly due to hitting 29 180's and a doubles percentage of 38.3 percent. He has hit a total of eight 100+ finishes or more, with a 164 checkout being his highest to date.
