Damon Heta has won the sixteenth Players Championship of the year. In the final, he defeated Ryan Joyce 8-4.
Heta achieved almost 104 average in the final. "This whole year I've been learning to win games, grinding them out," Heta said afterwards to Dan Dawson. "I was a bit disappointed yesterday so today I came in with the frame of mind of 'just get the win. That's all that matters.'"
The World Matchplay gets underway in Blackpool at the end of this week. "That's a different kettle of fish. I've been there a couple of times now and it obviously hasn't worked out for me. But with this new approach I'm definitely looking forward to it," Heta previews. "Josh Rock is obviously a great player so I'm looking forward to the challenge."
