Ross Smith,
Mike de Decker and Martin Schindler are the final players through to the Last 16 at the
Players Championship Finals in Minehead.
All with pretty rampant displays especially in the case of Smith and De Decker with the latter moving through at the same time as Luke Littler dished out another thumping win over Ritchie Edhouse.
De Decker was no match for White and easily took a 3-0 lead via a 19-darter, 13-darter and a 15-darter. White had one chance at the double to make it 3-1 but it was missed. In the remainder of the match, ‘Diamond White’ did not get another dart on a double and De Decker easily won the match 6-0 without too many problems.
While Smith hammered Plaisier 6-1 with 60% on the doubles to complete the Last 16 line-up in Minehead. Plaisier had chances on the double in the first two legs but failed to capitalise. Smith managed to hit his doubles to take a quick 2-0 lead. In the third leg, the Dutchman was unable to keep up, allowing ‘Smudger’ to score a 60 to make it 3-0.
In the fourth leg, Smith hit two 180's to make it 4-0 with an 81 finish in 12 arrows. Plaisier could not get into his rhythm and was constantly behind. Smith kept on throwing stoically and was only one leg away from victory.
The Dutchman managed to take another leg but it was too late to mount a spectacular comeback. Smith eventually sealed the win on double 6.
Martin Schindler also made it through to tonight's last sixteen. The German played against Ryan Meikle in the second round.‘The Wall’ took a 3-1 lead without too many problems, before Meikle came back to 3-3. Schindler then pressed on and eventually won the match 6-4.
