Raymond Smith on reaching Last 16 with potential Tour Card up for grabs: "I'm not thinking about it"

Raymond Smith is through to the Last 16 of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship after seeing off Florian Hempel to keep the dream alive and he summed up his emotions post match.

"Relieved I think, I got a lot of chances at doubles there so I'll take what I got. It's pretty special, Last 16 in the world," said Smith post match.

A Tour Card is potentially up for grabs if he beats Steve Lennon or Mervyn King but he is yet to make a decision on his darting future.

"I'm aware that it's a thing but I'm not thinking about it. If it's going to be a thing then I'll think about it in February."

Coming over to the UK was fraught with difficulties and for Smith, he has called his son Ky in particular a 'godsend' and has kept him sane throughout the trip.

"Christmas was pretty hard. That's what we prepare for and when it got hard, we did the things we prepared to do. Ky has been absolutely phenomenal, without him I probably would have gone home over Christmas because I probably would have lost it. If Ky wasn't here, I wouldn't have come, he has been an absolute godsend."
