Madars Razma is successfully through his opening tie of the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship after seeing off Toru Suzuki in straight sets to begin Day Three at the Alexandra Palace.
Razma survived a total of nine missed set darts meaning that despite winning 3-0 in sets, the scoreline didn't reflect the toughness of the task for the Latvian.
He survived in the opening set as the Japanese debutant squandered five set darts while Razma on the other hand despite not playing at his best snatched it with 3/3 on his doubles in comparison.
This led to a bit of soul searching from Razma who collected his thoughts on stage during the break but it was a similar story in the next set with four set darts in the decider falling by the wayside for Suzuki and Razma accepted the slip and went into a 2-0 lead.
The final set even went to a decider but a 14-darter saw Razma over the line after a tricky opener.
Madars Razma (89.21) 3-0 (81.36) Toru Suzuki (R1) (3-2, 3-2, 3-2)
Mike De Decker v Edward Foulkes (R1)
Ryan Murray v Lourence Ilagan (R1)
Daryl Gurney v William O’Connor (R2)
