James Wade made good use of his rest day ahead of the 2024
World Matchplay semifinals. 'The Machine' will play Luke Humphries in the last four of the prestigious tournament in Blackpool on Saturday night.
The left-handed dart player made his last appearance at the Winter Gardens on Wednesday night. After an excellent match, Wade prevailed 16-10 against Ross Smith. Because the two quarterfinals at the other end of the tournament schedule were scheduled for Thursday, the 11-time major winner had a day off in Blackpool.
''What a night Thursday night was with my 16 - 10 win over Ross, on reflection I thought it was a great game. I felt in control throughout, not 100% my A game but we are getting very close,'' Wade wrote on his
social media. ''A full day off yesterday with no Dart or Media responsibilities, so just total recovery. Ready to go again."
A cracker awaits on Saturday night against Luke Humphries, the reigning world champion. ''A tough game tonight against Luke, but it will not be easy for him either. I feel confident in my game and most importantly in my mind and body.," Wade assesses. "Excited for 8pm Live on Sky, Tune in and lets see what happens."
