"Really pleased to be back winning matches" - Dirk van Duijvenbode puts injury behind him, reaching final of Players Championship 6

After months of suffering due to a shoulder injury, Dirk van Duijvenbode seems to be back on form. On Tuesday, 'Aubergenius' impressed, reaching the final of Players Championship 6.

Van Duijvenbode had surrendered only two legs in his first three matches. He beat Mensur Suljovic 6-0 and then won 6-1 over both Stefan Bellmont and Ritchie Edhouse. After the third round, things got a lot tougher though.

The former World Grand Prix finalist fell behind 2-5 against James Wade, but still managed to reach the quarter-finals with a fabulous comeback. Van Duijvenbode then took a 6-5 win against Danny Jansen, before also beating Daryl Gurney (7-6) in a deciding leg. In the final, the 31-year-old Dutchman went down 8-6 against Dave Chisnall.

"Gutted to lose in the final, but really really pleased to be back winning matches and going deep on the Pro Tour," Van Duijvenbode reflected on his social media afterwards. "Big thanks to everyone that has stuck by me the last few months!"
