The many deciding sets in the second round at the 2022
World Grand Prix have created a new record.
No fewer than seven of the eight matches from the second round were only decided after five sets, which resulted in a total of 39 sets.
In the 2012 and 2014 editions, a total of 35 sets were played in the last sixteen. In 2000, 2008, 2009 and 2010, it came to 34 sets each, according to figures from statistician Philipp Wolff.
