The 2022 World Cup of Darts has began in Frankfurt with Republic of Ireland, Denmark and New Zealand the first countries through to the second round.
Steve Lennon & William O’Connor as 2019 finalists were facing a potentially tough test in Canada’s duo of Jeff Smith and Matt Campbell  but eased through in a 5-2 victory.
As a pairing, they were clinical on the doubles with 5/12 hit by the well versed duo which included an 83 checkout on the bull from O’Connor which saw them take control.
Denmark, who came in with Vladimir Andersen and Andreas Toft-Jorgensen, saw off Singapore's Paul Lim and Harith Lim. The Asians could not keep up with the Danes in terms of scoring and lost 5-2.
Ben Robb and Warren Parry won after a very mediocre match with 5-3 from Stefan Bellmont and Thomas Junghans from Switzerland. Especially the doubles proved to be a problem for both countries. Switzerland wasted eighteen darts on the doubles, against sixteen for New Zealand.

IRELAND CRUISE THROUGH! 🇮🇪 Former World Cup finalists Steve Lennon and Willie O'Connor brush the Canadian pairing aside, completing a very comfortable 5-2 win! Steve Lennon by far the best player on that stage, producing a fantastic display. Up next 👉 Austria v Finland
