Results Players Championship 17, Last 32: De Sousa continues to impress, Wright and Gurney out

We are heading into the latter stages at Players Championship 17 with Jose de Sousa continuing to impress and Peter Wright and Daryl Gurney both heading out.

De Sousa saw off Mervyn King in a 6-3 victory with a 100 average. The Portuguese ace continues his form from the Danish Darts Open last weekend and he will aim to cap off today with a maiden title.

Two players who will not be in the tournament at this stage are Peter Wright and Daryl Gurney. They were seen off by Dimitri van den Bergh and James Wilson respectively.

Luke Humphries also continues to impress and like De Sousa came through his tie relatively quickly and with ease. Other players remaining include Gerwyn Price, Krzysztof Ratajski and Jamie Hughes.

Barring the likes of 'The Iceman' winning the title, it seems like we will have yet another first time winner for 2019 later on today in Wigan.
