The second semi-final is set as Night Four of
Premier League Darts action in Dublin as
Michael van Gerwen will face
Jonny Clayton shortly.
Van Gerwen was facing Chris Dobey in a repeat of the Week One Final which was won by 'Hollywood' but this time it included the Hollywood finishing but not the ending for the Masters champion.
MVG who struggled last week and subsequently also didn't play on the ProTour showed no signs of rust as he eased into a 3-1 lead with a 101 average.
Dobey produced a spectacular 148 checkout to trail 4-2 but MVG was soon one away at 5-2. Missing 114, Van Gerwen couldn't punish with a 116. This allowed Dobey back to hold though as MVG looked to serve it out at 5-3.
Serve it out he did as he left 40 from 92 meaning Dobey needed 160 like in the Week One final but couldn't produce this time and MVG sealed the deal.
While in Clayton, he pounced massively on a myriad of missed darts at double from Aspinall who missed 23 in all but still it was only 6-4 to 'The Ferret' who found a way in the end.
The wasteful start became the story of the match as Clayton helped himself to a 3-1 lead with 15 missed darts at double. Clayton was only averaging 90 but still went 4-2 up.
Despite that Aspinall as ever showed grit and came back to 4-4 but missed doubles crept in again and Clayton got over the line.
