Ricardo Pietreczko became the fourteenth player to secure entry to the
Grand Slam of Darts after surprisingly winning the German Darts Championship last weekend.
Since there are no 16 televised finalists, Euro Tour winners and possibly Players Championship winners will be added to the field of participants. Michael Smith, Michael van Gerwen, Nathan Aspinall, Luke Humphries, Chris Dobey, Andrew Gilding, Gerwyn Price, Jonny Clayton, Rob Cross, Peter Wright and Gary Anderson have received invitations to the Grand Slam of Darts because they were in one or more TV finals.
Euro Tour winners Dave Chisnall, Krzysztof Ratajski and Ricardo Pietreczko are also sure of their spots at the major tournament in Wolverhampton, which will be played from November 11 to 19.
Dirk van Duijvenbode and Danny Noppert are virtually qualified as Players Championship winners, but that could still change if the European Championship at the end of October produces one or two more new TV finalists.
In addition to the 16 television finalists and Pro Tour winners, eight more invitations will be handed out. Six of these have already received destinations. These are to Josh Rock (Youth World Champion), Nathan Girvan (Youth World Championship finalist), Gian van Veen (Development Tour Order of Merit 2023 winner), Beau Greaves (Women's World Matchplay winner), Fallon Sherrock (number two Women's Series Order of Merit 2023) and Haruki Muramatsu (PDC Asian Championship winner). The final two wildcards will go to the winner of the PDC Challenge Tour Order of Merit and the winner of the CDC Continental Cup.
That leaves eight spots remaining in the field of participants. These starting spots will be distributed during a qualifying tournament for the remaining PDC Tour Card holders on Friday, Nov. 3.
