"He's a fantastic player and it's great for darts" - Classy Peter Wright sporting in defeat following German Darts Championship final

Peter Wright had to settle for second place at the German Darts Championship on Sunday night. The 53-year-old Scot lost 8-4 to Ricardo Pietreczko in the final of the European Tour tournament in Hildesheim.

That leaves the final balance of the Euro Tour season at one title for Wright, who did come out on top earlier this year at the Czech Darts Open in Prague. 'Snakebite' played a fine tournament until the final of the German Darts Championship, but could not get going against Pietreczko with an average of just 85.

"It wasn't there in the final," Wright admitted post-match. "I couldn't push him but fair play, he beat some fantastic players all the way through the tournament."

Wright had also lost to Pietreczko earlier this year at the European Darts Open. ''I've played him before and he beat me up last time, I know how he can play. He's a fantastic player and it's great for darts."
