Ricky Evans has had a heartbreaking month going from the UK Open to the tragic passing of his sister just before her birthday so perhaps being on the oche is the least of his worries right now. But he managed to muster a superb win over Raymond van Barneveld on Friday at the European Darts Trophy.
One which saw Evans stream into tears after he hit the winning double 16 as he pointed to the sky showing how much it meant to him after recent events.
He took the 12-darter to take it in style before the tears came. Taking to Facebook after his sister Elisha passed, he paid tribute with a series of pictures as well as calling her the best darts player he'd ever seen. "My beautiful little sister Elisha... I love you so much. I'll always be your best friend," he wrote.

"All set & ready for tonight’s match. This one’s for you sis," he wrote prior to his match against the Dutch legend who received criticism for a passive handshake after the match on social media. Those noting that he should've perhaps shown some more compassion towards Evans.
Dan Dawson who commentates on the European Tour wrote on social media: "I saw Webby (Mark Webster) hit an 11 darter to beat Cullen in Graz whilst in the grip of dartitis, and it was one of the most heroic things I've seen on the Euro Tour. This surpasses it."
He returns tonight for the second round of the European Tour in Gottingen as he faces off against Dave Chisnall for a spot in the Final Day. Evans will once again do it for his sister and heads into the tie against Chisnall which is bound to be an entertaining and frenetic affair between two of the fastest throwers on the planet.
