Ricky Evans is always put on the final session before Christmas as the showman of the Alexandra Palace and Mr Christmas and he certainly served up a cracker against Dave Chisnall on Monday night at the PDC World Darts Championship.
The Kettering ace came out on top in the second round thriller dumping out the sixth seed in a sudden death leg having earlier survived a match dart. Two of the biggest scorers and fastest players served up a marathon of epic proportions in true Ally Pally drama. But it is Evans that is through.

To start the tie, Evans missed the bull for a 170 checkout and Chisnall responded with double four for 3-1 and claimed a 1-0 lead. Chisnall though missed darts this time in the second.
He was left to rue one missed set dart on double five and Evans levelled the match averaging 101.3 levelling it up at 1-1. Evans looked to be in the ascendancy as he wrapped up the next 3-1 to go 2-1 up and go one away from the match.
But a truly incredible conclusion was set as Chisnall swept the next set 3-0 to force a decider in what was must watch darts up to then and became even more so.
In the next set, Evans went for two double 19's off 96. He missed both and missed darts from there to break throw and go one away from the victory and Chisnall hit double one finally for 1-1.
Evans hit 125 to leave 60 with Chisnall not on a finish. He pinned 60 first time on double 20 to go one away.
Chisnall missed 170 for 2-2 on bull but Evans couldn't get near 151. Chisnall went to 2-2 as the tie-break was set.
Evans hit the 450th 180 of the tournament as he aimed to set the pace into the tie-break. A 74 checkout saw him go one away. Evans missed the bull off 123 for the match and Chisnall suddenly levelled up.
Chisnall missed 149 for a break but returned to go one away himself after Evans couldn't even get a shot at 170. 'Chizzy' missed a dart to finish it off next leg off 68 and Evans hit 110 to make it 4-4.
Evans handed Chisnall a 154 shot that he couldn't pin as he messed around on 82. But he hit double 10 for 5-4 up.
Chisnall miscounted on 139 hitting 131 thinking he'd hit it. Evans hit the treble 20 on 130 and Evans drifted into the five giving Chisnall a return on double one to render it irrelevant.
In the decider, Evans handed Chisnall a shot at 170 but he drifted into the single 20 on the second dart and 'Rapid' went for 52 and pinned double 20 first time.
