Rob Cross has qualified for the second round at the
Bahrain Darts Masters at the expense of Tomoya Goto.
Cross quickly gained a 3-0 lead against his Japanese opponent thanks to a 112 finish. Goto fought back to 3-3, but then saw Cross hit an 87 finish for 4-3. With a 15-darter and a 13-darter the Englishman then managed to put a 6-3 final score on the scoreboard.
Earlier in the evening,
Nathan Aspinall had his hands more than full with Lourence Ilagan. The Filipino broke 'The Asp' with an 80 finish in the third leg and eventually managed to take a 5-3 lead.
The deficit was then reduced to 4-5 after a 14-darter from Aspinall. In the tenth leg, Ilagan had chances to finish the match, but 'The Gunner' missed two match darts. Aspinall then levelled the score with a 14-darter, before the reigning World Matchplay champion decided the game with a 12-darter.
